Panchayat

A Panchayat is a collective of elected representatives responsible for managing the administrative affairs of Panchayati Raj institutions. In the context of a Grama Panchayat, it is the primary committee that implements the decisions of the Grama Sabha and manages day-to-day administration.The main components of a Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. They preside over meetings and oversee the overall functioning of the Panchayat.Vice President: Performs the duties of the President in their absence.Ward Members: Elected representatives from each ward of the Panchayat.Standing Committees: Sub-committees formed to ease decision-making in specific areas such as finance, development, welfare, health, and education.

History of Grama Panchayat

The name "Seethathode" is associated with a legend from the Ramayana. According to local belief, after being abandoned by Lord Rama, Goddess Sita reached this place during her exile. She is said to have washed her hands and feet and rested by a forest stream (thodu) here. It is believed that the place came to be known as "Seethathode" because of the stream that was touched and blessed by Goddess Sita.
